extra fuel gauge

In my continuing quest to slowly convert my quattro to a rally car, i'd like to 
add a second fuel gauge...one right in front of my navigator.

Why?  Well, I'm not totally sure (to be honest) but I figured since I have an 
extra, and it _is_ something that would be good for both to pay attention to...

Anyways, can I just 'tap' into the two wires that power the original fuel 
gauge, or will this screw up the reading on both? ideally, it would be great if 
I could just run two wires behind the dash to the original fuel gauge...

Any ideas?
