200Q still dead, now what?

that's even better than measuring resistance, since it checks the wire
under load.

well, the battery is connected directly to the starter.  if the starter
clicks, the ign sw is doing its job of sending 12v to the small starter
connection - no harm in setting up a switched jumper to that terminal,
too, though, in order to eliminate another variable.

I take it that when the new starter went in its mounting surface was
cleaned well (that's its ground)?
