'87 5kTQ Radio _NEEDED_

David,
Nope, 1987 Audi factory radio. Has a sort of rocker switch for the volume.
Came with the 1987 Audi 5000CD Quattro that year - maybe the CS's were
different, but I doubt that the dial radios would work with an IR remote
control - you'd have to add a servo to the radio to operate the dial - sorta
doubt that a factory radio in '87 would have that. The remote control
operated radios had a sensor mounted behind a vertical-slit grille located
mid-radio - sorta like the temperature sensor on the dash.
Hold the "-" button down, one long beep saying that the radio is at the
bottom of the volume range. Press the "+" button once - WAAAAAAAHHH!!!!
(sound made while simultaneously trying to cover ears and press the "I/O"
button, in the middle of the rocker, to shut it off)
I wish the radio was just "playing dead" - almost drove off the road when
the volume went turbo-overboost.
Keep your eyes open for a radio like this if you are into weekly visits to
your pick 'n' pull (like I am) - if you can get one such radio - I'll need
the yard to write the VIN on the receipt (so I can get the unlock code from
Audi)
Cheers!
