Gotta vent!!!!

Well,

I attempted to replace the brushes and thoroughly clean all of the connections for the alternator this morning and this was the result:

-Shaved about 1/16" of skin off the knuckles from the condensor getting the upper alternator mounting bolt out
-Had to unbolt  the entire lower bracket assembly because the lower bolt would not budge out of the alternator
-The bolt that the main power cable connects to broke as I tried to loosen the nut
-Ended up having to cut the lower mounting bolt out because it started to bend as I whacked it out (not pissed off at all at this point....yeah right)
-The non-grounded screw came right out of the alternator for the brush-pack
-The grounded one broke at the halfway point from the Vise Grips

I'll be lucky to get a core credit for a new alternator.

Please remind me why I keep this 17 year old automobile  ('84 4KQ)  people!!!!
