5ktq Fuel Pump Relay Question???

I have an 86 5ktq and often enough it won't start.  When it does it runs fine then out of the blue it'll die.  Is the FP relay a good place to start or what?  I know it's getting spark and when I pull a plug out it's bone dry.  The car had been sitting for 3 years before I started working on it so I am just wondering if it could be something else.  The previous owner said this is a new problem and it had never happened to him.
