Sounds like maybe a fuel pump or fuel pump relay failure.  I know the 
90 series runs the pump when you first turn on the ignition(but 
before the engine starts)...or at least, I heard a 90 do this once; 
the owner turned the key, and there was a "buzzzzzzzzzzzz" from the 
fuel pump and I remember noticing it, because type 44's don't do 
that.  If the Coupe is supposed to run the pump too(and you can't 
hear the pump) I would first look at the relay.

If that's not it, my next stop would be fetching codes from the ECU; 
there are a few sensors that will cause a no-start condition if the 
ECU thinks they're bad or disconnected.
