Thanks to everyone who has helped me out with the inquiries about my
recently purchased Audi 80Q. I am still trying to work out some of the bugs
on this car. Recently, after changing the oil and filter, the car began to
exhibit a rather loud engine knock at start-up. I know this is fairly
common on these I-5 engines with high mileage, but it seemed to have gotten
worse after the oil change. Are the valves and lifters the same as a 4000Q-
hydraulic, not adjustable? What is the knock sensor? Also, just had new
struts/strut bearings (front and rear) and new tires put on, and 4 wheel
alignment. The steering still seems kind of loose- no knocks or bangs in
front end- anything that I should have checked out. I'm still trying to get
this shifter thing worked out. My mechanic is saying it's the linkage rod
that goes into the transmission, we'll see. Thanks again.
