Not sure about MC1/MC2 gearing/redline (same gearing/lower redline?), but
the 3B has 25mph/1000rpm in 5th, redline is 7200rpm which works out to
175ish mph if the engine were able to push it there.
MIne (chipped) will go at least 153 according to co-pilot holding the GPS
receiver, speedo was indicating >165. Pretty smooth ride.

1991 200 quattro, 116k, dead a/c
1988 GTI 16v, 225k, dead a/c and won't go much past 115 either, lots
noisier too
