a/c belt will -not- go on

Belts didn't come from TPC, and all matched what came off the car
perfectly(save brand.)  Old belts were a mix of Conti and something
else; new are all Conti.  They have almost exactly the same fit(ie,
impossible to get on.)

Just finished a 20 minute search of the archives...nothing.
