Ben, I'm doing the same thing except the engine is out of the car. I'm sure=
you already know but it's really not too difficult to replace the rings. s=
eems like a really good thing to do while your there if for no other reason=
than to prevent possable power loss (I'm sure your fine now but while your=
in there, why not) I used total seal and am not sure if it was the right d=
ecision. From what I'm told, the near total vaccum can suck oil from around=
the seals and guides (if the guids are stock or old) I'm only changing the=
seals and grinding the seats not changing the guides. I'll have to see how=
things go.Anyway, keep that in mind.
With a Garret hybred turbo, you may want to have new rings anyway, I'm =
sure you intend to get plenty of power. 160000 miles isn't too much but wit=
h over 300 hp? I would freshen things up a little more just for security.
When it comes down to it, I just say what I'm told, but it does make se=
nce to me.
