Except the Allroad has -more- ground clearance than most SUVs, and
unlike your GM, at highway speeds it lowers itself for stability.

I would suggest a little more open thinking.  The tiptronic is not
"boy racer"; it's a compromise for those, who, say, end up in bumper
to bumper traffic all the time but otherwise would like a manual...or
people who have hip/knee joint problems, etc...not to mention, with
both hands on the wheel, you have much better control of the car.

   Sure it detracts from the driving experience, but don't power
brakes+steering as well?  Air conditioning?  etc?
