Sounds like an impending motor bearing failure. My 200q20v used to
do this, mostly when the blower was run at high speed for a long
time. It became more and more frequent, and then the motor would get
"stuck" and require jump starting(opening the tilt on the sunroof at
70+mph on the turnpike caused enough vacuum to kick it into gear.)
Then it simply stopped working, period.
Now I've got a weird noise thanks to some squirrels(who decided to
use my car to store about 2 dozen acorns.
With the fan on high, the car literally shakes violently as
-something- goes BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR; it is amazing how strong the
shaking is. Stuck flap, or as Marc suggested, remnants of a nest of
some sort. Thank god the acorns didn't get into the blower assembly.
World's first 20v popcorn maker.
