Well said, Phil. I got pulled over last week for a SEAT BELT
violation. $25 to the Pitt County coffers. Now the funny thing is that I
had just pulled out of a fast food restaurant (where I removed the belt)
and other than that was obeying every law. The State Trooper ran a red
light, sped at least 15 mph over the speed limit of 45 to catch me, then
tailgated one car length behind me for 1/4 mile, then drove down both lanes
of the 4 lane highway for a second right before he pulled me. All of this
in heavy traffic. He cuts me no break for just pulling out of a restaurant
(I hadn't travelled 1/2 mile by the time he pulled me,) and has the nerve
to tell ME to drive safely. I told him (after he gave me the ticket) that
he was tailgating me dangerously, so badly I thought he we was going to
rear-end me, but because his lane instability was so bad, I couldn't figure
out which lane to get in to get out of his way!
Fortunately this violation doesn't carry any driving or insurance points,
so I'll just pay (plus there is no way to get out of it, it's your word
against the cops, and guess who wins.)
