same happened to me in my 88 5000. key stuck in lock on a weekend trip to
malibu with ALL MY STUFF locked in the car.
fortunately i had the trim piece off inside the trunk lid, so once i broke
into the car [sunroof cracked, coathanger] i managed to flashlight and stick
the lock mechanism open thru the ski pass thru [another piece i fortunately
had removed and not yet put back together]
if you dont have a ski passthru, and the lock rods are not exposed [ i thik
they are on my 88 90] then youll have a hellofatime popping it.
if you can see the little metal rods that run from lock to latch, you can
pop it with a long stick with a little "v" carved in the end of it...
good luck,
jim

I've unlatched mine with a broomstick working the
latch itself. I forget EXACTLY how I did it, but I
managed it twice during the first few weeks of
ownership. Car was a type 44, but I think the center
latch should be very similar.
