> OK, after 30 hours doing an R&R on my clutch (first time on an Audi -- 87 5KCSQ) I was all ready to take it for a spin and see how I did, only it wont start...The engine turns over and gas comes squirting out of the filter when I cracked the banjo to make sure it is getting fuel (I am going to check for spark once I find my multimeter)...
First, I have seen some assumptions that this is a turbocharged car. Is
it?

If those OXS wires might possibly be touching metal that could/would
cause problems, either by sending a "zero volts" signal to the ECU or by
grounding out the heater power, which I believe is in parallel with a
few useful items.
Your starter works, so that's ok.
If your battery was not disconnected for the job (it should have been)
check all your fuses in case something was accidentally shorted during
the work.
Your engine was probably shifted around a bit, this might have
aggravated poor connections (like a busted hall sender plug) or twisted
a cracked hose into a nice "leaking" condition. Try to look these
things over.
You are getting fuel pressure at the filter, you can pull an injector
and lift the air plate while cranking to check for fuel to the cylinders
- although a good sniff of the tailpipe is usually convincing that
gasoline is entering the engine. Test for spark.
