Audi Cabs-difference between '94 and '97 models??

Folks,  I have a 97 Cabriolet which I am very happy with. Someone has
offered me  a high mileage 94 which -looks- nice. Understand timing
belt/water pump service needs to be checked. Any problems with the earlier
models I should be aware of??  Reply offline if necessary to avoid WOB. All
input appreciated.
