I made my local Audi dealer look it up in the service manual. It said
to use a large screwdriver, but also mentioned a torque of 35 Nm. Go
figure.

I ended up building my own tool for the job. Got all the caps out, and
even got them properly torqued afterwards.

I built the tool from a hex socket and an old spanner. My welding
skills are worse than terrible, but it worked. Here's a picture of the
tool. Maybe it will inspire you to give it a try:

You can see that the "blades" are slightly deformed, probably because
the steel was not hard enough for this use.
