96 A6 Q Brake Switch, Tranny Code, & Dubbles

Two things with my 96 A6 Quattro:

1. Does anyone know why a resistor would be soldered, in parallel, to the brake switch line under the dash?

2. My original auto tranny was filled with the incorrect fluid, most likely at the 45K check. I bought the car at 57K miles and at 88K miles the tranny failed. I had Dubbles German Motors put in a used auto tranny (with 18K miles) and the car runs fine except the check engine light comes on, the code is for transmission range. Dubbles feels it's probably questionable contacts in the transmission range switch and that the car is fine to drive. Anyone have experience with this type of situation.

Finally, if anyone is in the Reading, PA area and needs work done on their Audi, stay away from Vision Audi and use Jason at Dubbles. I have had him work on both my Audi and a Saab I had, much to my satisfaction (cost & performace). Don't forget to mention my name if you call him (610-375-8330).
