New TDI

Speaking of TDI, can someone tell me the difference between TDI and CDI?
Also, how come they don't bring the CDI engine to this side of the pond.

I can vouch for the performance of the diesel engine as well. I rented
a small A class Mercedes with a 1.7 l CDI engine last year. Although I
hated the A class, I loved the engine and the 5 speed manual tranny. You
could only hear the typical diesel sound at idle. As soon as I stepped
on the gas it went away. The car had a lot of torque and it would pull
smoothly from 1200 RPM, and it would top at about 170 km/hr. The gas
mileage was excellent as well. Driven within the speed limit it would do
5.3 l/100km.

Some are quite fast too. My friend told me he had a TDI BMW pass him at
240km/hr on the autobahn.
