The rear left caliper started freezing on (eg not releasing) with the
recent batch of cold snowy weather.
I've looked thru the archives, and it seem that the "right" way to fix
this would be to replace the parking brake cables, calipers and pads.
Not unreasonable, and something I will consider when better weather
rolls around. But I am curious if there are any temporary fixes (short
of just not using the parking brake) that folks have found to work.
It seems to me that this is likely a cable thing, as the side which
hangs up, has it's rubber/plastic coat on the parking brake cable mostly
gone. I was thinking that perhaps an overnite stay in the garage with
heat applied to the cable might dry it out . Then some WD40 and a new
wrap of electrical tape with sealant on the ends. Anyone btdt with
something like this?
TIA
