Mike,
First, I would take the boot out, wash it to get oil off and patch it up with a lot of
duct tape.  This way I made my car run (nearly) perfect, it might work for you.
Eventually, you'll have to buy
a new boot because the tape is going to come off but it might buy you a couple of months'
time. Good luck.
