Hi,
Does anyone know where to find a diagram of the innards of the
rear calipers (Teves type) on my 88 5000 CS TQ? I attempted to free up a
stuck emergency brake lever shaft by removing the return spring-mount bolt
so I could work the shaft out of the caliper housing by about 1/2 inch. I
cleaned up the corroded surface of the shaft and returned the shaft to
original depth into the caliper housing. Return spring now easily rotates
the emergency brake lever and connecting cable BUT pulling the cable no
longer applies braking to the rotor. I assumed the emergency brake shaft
has a cam of sorts on it that applies braking by pressing on the back of
the piston and that it would tolerate sliding in and out past the piston.
Is there a way to rescue the caliper without breaking into the hydraulic
line and dismantling the caliper? Thanks for any help understanding why
pulling the shaft disrupted normal function.

Lou
