Hah. That's not a rallyx :-)
I went to spectate at an SCCA rallyx in Burlington VT...hard pack
dirt to gravel to soft(think cake mix consistency) dirt to grass to
soft dirt to hard packed dirt. In the soft-dirt turns, ruts were
over a foot to two feet deep.
Watching cars negotiate the turns was really amusing- it became less
of an issue of "how do I properly take this turn" and more of a
"okay, how the heck do I get around the cavern over there."
There was an insane proportion of WRX's, including wagons. The guys
in the cities may be posers, but WRX's are definitely seeing some
action out in the 'country' :-)
That Porsche has nothing on this WRX wagon:

Got a couple of good shots from that event. Might post 'em some time
if I get around to it. Bunch of Audis participated... A4 wagon, A4,
90q, UrQ..bunch more in the lot. Poser-ish A4 with a wing taller
than me, a red UrS4(lic plate RENNWGN, Thompson was that you?) and a
10v 200 avant...
