Hi all,

There's not really any direct Audi content here.

I was looking for information on how sloppy ignition timing can be, for example distributor gear lash and
timing belt stretch, and I came across this excellent website about valve trains. It's a mechanics class
apparently.

I just thought it was great how it explains it all. I had no idea the past iterations of valve trains.

The whole thing is pretty good, really:

I didn't find what I was looking for tho'. I'm trying to see if there is any foundation to my desire to replicate
MAC11-style crank-based ignition timing versus a cam-based one in a programmable engine management
environment.

If there isn't much slop between the crank and distributor, then I will change my perspective regarding
triggering. I would like to find some actual measurements if I can, even if they are not Audi-specific.

Later,

Ken
