Tach Signal for 20v engine in type 85

For those of you out there using a 20v motronic ecu with a type 85 tach, are
you using the tach signal from the ecu to drive the tach or tapping into
terminal 1 of the coil and driving the tach similar to the way it was in
stock type 85 form?
