The 1.9 is hardly slow - the PD motor makes 150hp on paper, and can
easily reach 170-180hp with minor tuning.
The lowly 1.9 90hp we get here in the US also can be tweaked - my Jetta
dynoed at 117hp, 226 ft/lb at the wheels.
