Ero and Jim:
Of course for some more money you can get this - block of Vermont Sharp
Cheddar - looking jump starter.
They claim you can turn the starter over with it,
but It will do your fuel pump on a dead battery vs., a low one (to use the
starter)
I'll post a photo - got one for Christmas.
ALSO I'll bet x volts for the fuel pump to run for a push start is 8 volts.
I've run Audis down to 8 volts when the Alt belt snapped dash gets real dim.
no assessories, engine still runs - some times high rpm cut out though.

Ero, you're a genius! You just described my next
invention! A cig. lighter adapter cord with a 9 volt
bat. plug on the other end. They have 9 volts that
will last 10 yrs. now and I think that that would be
enough to power the essential items required for
start-up. NOT including cranking! The battery won't
last long at that draw rate, but who cares. Maybe
someone will volunteer to test this. Put a dead bat.
in your car and see if this works with a push start.
