somtimes she starts, or not

Sounds more like an intermittent ignition switch to
me. Mine does that, too. I just wired a separate
circuit from a hot lead to the starter through a
momentary micro-switch. When the regular ignition
switch doesn't work I just hit the hot-wire switch.
