you always want ground paths to be as short as possible and at least the
same current capacity as the hot side wiring. the factory grounds probably
run the current through all creation on its way back to the actual chassis.

<<<Is there any down side to grounding these back to the original headlight
grounds in the factory harness?  It seems like only a minimal amount of
current could be flowing though the triggers anyways...>>
