Just curious: Has anyone converted a V8 to a 5cyl MC Engine?

The automatic in the early V8s uses a similar trans to the BMW 7 series
of the same era. A "good" transmission shop will know this.

Personally, if you are going to replace the Audi V8 with something
American, I think the Buick 3.8 turbo would be an ideal candidate. A
well built Vortec 4.3 liter V6 would be my second choice. I've got two
issues of some car magazine that covers building up a 4.3 Vortec. With a
carb they got 300hp, with a centrifugal blower added after that, they
got 450hp, on pump gas. I figure a 4.3 with a centrifugal blower would
probably fit under the hood.

Long ago, someone scanned the Audi V8 repair manual and created PDF
files, I still have a copy of that CDROM. It makes for some pretty
interesting reading, even if you don't own a V8.

If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to send one for my cost. I believe
postage for a CD is around $1 plus a $1 for the blank and my time. If
interested send me a quick email note and the $2 to the address in my
signature and I'll burn a copy and send one out.
