Tire size , replacement

I have three well worn tires.
If I put a fourth new on won't the tread height difference
cause one to turn slower than the others, hence generating heat in my
differentials?
....and the vehicle already has three sets of tires/rims so cheap is the
option here.

Perfect example of greedy, ignorant dealer syndome. Total BS. All four tire
sizes do have to be the same (i.e. no 15" on front, 13" on back, or R & L),
but no, you emphatically do NOT have to change the other three if one goes
bad.
