Boost Question

Speaking of boost, parts cars, donors, etc. I have a
question that covers all these bases.

I have an ’86 5kcsq parts car that is wrecked, but the
engine runs. In fact, I have had it about a year and
in all that time it has never failed to start right up
after I hook a battery to it. I start it at least
every 2 or 3 weeks.

My question is, how can you tell if the turbo is good
if you can’t drive the car? Just sitting at idle, the
boost gauge shows 0.1 or 0.2. If I disconnect the hose
to the ECU it shows 0.9, so I think the gauge and ECU
are OK. If you punch the throttle, you can see 0.6 to
0.7 very briefly. Does this mean that the turbo etc.
are OK?

By the way, any listers know anything about a pearl
’86 5kcsq with a Colorado background that ended up on
the auction block in Kansas City about a year ago with
a pretty badly caved in driver’s side?

Thanks,
Mike
