Odd Tire size help!

Yeah I know they are dinky :)
They just say 165SR14 on the tires, bear in mind these were put on the car
in 1974 and perhaps they had different sizing conventions at time (not sure,
wasn't alive yet!)
Using the old eyeball and tape measure method of measuring the tire, looks
around 6" wide and about 5" of sidewall... so that's about 80-85 profile?
eek! The rims are only 4.5" wide so I can't really go too much wider!
I will go to the local tiremonger tomorrow and see if I can't confuse them
with these dinky little tires too :)
