5k ignition problem

Eyvind,

If the tach is dropping to zero then the power is being cut off to the
instrument panel. My '95 GMC Sierra Pickup did the exact same thing, after
exactly 15 minutes of driving the truck would die. At first on occasion it
would catch itself and not stall completely but as time went on it would
stall and take up to 2 minutes before restarting. Once I explained to the
dealer the instrument panel went dead as well, they knew exactly what it
was. The ignition switch in the steering column. It turns out that some of
the terminals had a little corrosion on them and after 15 minutes of driving
the switch heated up from the resistance and cut out. In went a new switch
and all is wonderful again. This occured about 36 months ago.

Hope this gives you a direction to look at...
