It is my understanding that the actual chip mod only gets you 2 things on a
10V...overboost protection and retention of the rev limiter. Is this not the
case?
I couldn't care less about the rev limiter, since the car revs like a lawn
tractor, and signs off about 1500 RPM below redline. The overboost
protection is certainly useful, but I'm under the impression that if I keep
the wastegate in a good state of repair, this isn't a big concern.
While on the subject of boost, etc. I was considering a blow-off valve
install. Any gains to be had here at the stated level of tune? If not, I
might get one anyway, just so I can sound serious... "rrRRRRMMMMM <KSHHH!>
rrRRRRMMMM <KSHHH!> rrRRRMMMM..." you get the idea :)
Thoughts on these issues?
As far as burning a chip, that would certainly be great, but I'm not
equipped to solder ICs onto a pcb (skill or hardware). If it's $20 to burn a
chip, why does everyone ask $250 or more to do the chip mod? Sounds like hwy
robbery to me, but then I don't exactly know what-all is involved.
BTW, I'll be posting some pics to my web site soon...and I have KY lic.
"Q-LISTR" on the way, so I hope you folks don't mind me hangin' around, cuz
I can't afford to get a different plate now :).
