CGT: Door Trim, drivers side

Argh! Not sure what happened, possibly a love tap in the parking lot. The front edge of the trim piece on my 87 CGT came a but loose, not knowing this I opened the door and now the metal strip down the middle is pulled away and creased. So, how to I remove the whole door trim piece? Is it just glued on. If so, heat it with a heat gun/hair dryer and pull? Anybody parting our a later CGT that would have a matching trim peice? The trim is smooth, not textured like earlier CGTs. Anybody got the part number so if needed I can order a new one from Audi? Do new ones come with double sided tape already applied? if not, what is the recomended adhesive? This is TOTALLY not needed right now, I'm supposed to go aon a 500 mile round trip in the CGT this coming woeekend and I can only open the drivers door a few inches at this point...
