Ideas on how to humanly remove mice

It's almost impossible to seal out mice. Certainly not from an engine compartment, although smaller places like ventilation systems can be sealed.

You have to eliminate the little guys. If you are live trapping, you've got to dump them somewhere like a mile or more away. If you are killing them, well, then they are eliminated ;-) If you have a big problem, it can take months to lower the population to an acceptable level. You can also get a few cats to do the work, but not everyone likes to go that route, either

If you are trapping, the best bait to use in your (live or dead) traps is peanut butter. This stuff is positively the crack cocaine of the mouse world! I had a mouse problem in the attic over my old garage. After placing my first peanut butter laden trap I didn't even get halfway down the stairs before I heard "SNAP!" Lastly, try to put your traps in a "mouse friendly" location. They like small spaces, along the edge of walls, edge of tires, someplace they feel comfortably hidden while chowing. If you put it out in the middle of a floor or parking space they might not bite.

Good luck!
