> The warning light threshold for the VDO sender is listed as 7 psi, or 0.482633 bar. Which means the warning light won't come on unless the pressure goes below about 0.5 bar(?).
from how that reads, that would be my guess.
> One question I'd have to answer is if at idle, the oil pressure is always above 0.5 bar, which I'm sure it is.
The only way .5bar makes sense as a lower limit on oil pressure is if .5
bar means .5 bar ABOVE atmospheric which I _THINK_ is how that
calculates.. eg .5 bar == 14.7 + (.5 * 14.7) = 21.85 psi. That would be
perfect for a lower oil pressure limit as mine never seems to go below
25psi when hot at idle (shown via an autometer oil pressure gauge).

if you have the manual VDO oil pressure gague, then you have three
senders.. 1 is a variable resistance device which drives the gauge, the
other two are used by the dynamic oil pressure warning system.. one
sender warns of pressure too low, the other too high.
> Including the gauge sender, that is. Is it the gauge sender/warning light, plus "two" more? If so, where's the one that's not right below the gauge one?
should be very near by. typically the factory puts the gauge sender
plus one pressure sensor together, then the other one is in another
threaded hole in the block a few inches away. follow the wiring harness
back and you should find it.

it isn't. If you are having an oil light warning problem and you are
sure your pressure is not too low then it is related to those two other
pressure switches or some of the electronics behind the circuit (such as
the relay that controls them).
FWIW my car is having the same problem: My low pressure warning light
goes off after the car warms up even though I'm sure the pressure is
good. I'll look into it more next weekend...
