can you confirm either way? Did you see the roll?? I was on A3 burning
through film pretty quick...and missed the roll. According to Frank they locked
up all four and slid off the road...rolling it down an embankment.
Most impressive drives of the day:
Stage A3 - Andrew Comme-Picard in his Mitsu Evo...Apparently went off the road
on A2 and was pulled out by a team member in a Justy (losing ~6min in the
process). Came through A3 just HAULING A$$. I should have a couple of nice
shots of Andrew 2ft in the air, for about 20ft. Watch for it on TSN, the
camera was right beside the crest (in my chosen spot I might ADD!). Apparently
us freelancing photog's are down the totem pole!
Stage B7(?) - Missed the team, little blue Justy. Came down the icy hill to
the hair pin...car slid...sliding, sliding, sliding towards the ditch...Three
wheels in, passanger side front wheel up in the air...Hammer down and popped
right out of the ditch! Hit the following wide sweeping 180 deg left corner
like his hair was on fire...A crowd pleaser for sure!
Parking lots were interesting. Dominant vehicles were Subarus, with mostly
2.5RS's over WRX (that I saw anyhow...). Next up were the Audi's, followed by
the Volvos. A healthy sprinkling of Japanese and ford Focii...Besides the
Focus there were VERY few North American Beasts..
I figure I shot between 280 and 300 pics. I'll have 'em back around Thursday,
won't start scanning until the weekend though.
Worst part about the weekend: Here I am, at an event with not one, but TWO 90
quattro sedans entered...and I never did check out their cages. Stupid! Mind
you, I suppose it doesn't matter...mine is welded in now! Can't change it!
Luke, contact me off-list about your goal for rallying. I think I can help you
avoid some mistakes...
