You do have to remove the coupling from the steering rack. I
forget why, but I tried it without disconecting the couping
and I had to go back and remove it. Also be careful when you
finally lower the tranny, i crunched one of the nipples on
my diff lock actuator, still need to fix that. The slave
will come out eventually. I had to hit and pry on mine quite
a while before it came out.  Good luck.
