Weird noise at boost

I just changed the WG spring in my '87 5kT. One strange thing occurs.
When the boost goes past 1.5 (0.5) on the gauge, I get this weird
noise, almost like a heat shield rattling. It occurs all the time, not
rpm dependent, only boost dependent. I'm thinking about ignition
pinging, but I guess the knock sensor should take care of that and
give me the check engine-lamp at the same time? I've never heard
pinging before, so I don't know what it sounds like.. This noise is
like a heat shield rattling, or a tin with peas.. Anyway, on premium
fuel and 0.5 bar boost pressure, a MC-1 should *not* ping.. Fault
codes = 4444... Any tips? If it's just a rattling, I'll fix it next
time I'm under the car, but if it is pinging, then..
