'95 A6QA dashboardgear selection indicator

Anybody here know if there are replaceable bulbs in the gear display module
in the dash?  Hasn't lit up for years, and I want to fix it.  95.5 A6QA.
BTW, just replaced the tranny at 187K, an interesting job.  Came home from
Sacramento to Santa Maria in 2nd gear.  An adventure.  Been showing symptoms
for about 18 months at about 2K miles a month.  Didn't want to put my AAA
card into overdraft.  1/2 hour out we couldn't move at all until we put it
in "1" to get it moving!  Can you say "burned smell"?  Any and all help will
be appreciated.  John
