H1's (the high beam) do require a different
connector, as on US DOT high beams, the pins
are parallel blades, on H1's they are perpendicular
to each other. You could try to fish around and
find a connector, or you could just use appropriate
sized female blade connectors (fully insulated to
prevent shorts) and just connect them to the lamps.
I did this on both a '75 Saab 99 and my '84 4000SQ
(80 Q europe).
As for the pin swaps on the H4's I think Ti is right,
but I too don't recall which two a swapped (I think
its ground (brown) and dip (yellow?), but that could
be the 9004 to 9007 conversion swap....

You just need to swap two of the pins in the connector. I don't remember
which ones at the top of my head, but you should be able to look this up
easily.
