There might also be some connectors under the dash, where
the steering wheel column passes through the firewall.
Chris Miller has a short write-up on using a diode and
resister to light up the codes with that connector.

You can get the diode with a resistor at Radio Shack in the US;
I'm sure a similar electronics store in Canada will carry it.
