90Q 20V Air Bag Light

My 1990 90Q 20V has about 132K miles on it.  About 5000 (or so) miles 
ago, the air bag light on the instrument cluster started coming on every 
time the engine is started.  It stays on for about 5 minutes, then turns 
off by itself.  Obviously it is trying to tell me something.  The air 
bag battery is dying?  A reminder that the shelf life of the air bag has 
expired and it wants me to install a new one?  If it is the latter, is 
there a way to reset it?  If there is a FAQ on this, please point me to 
it.  I am a little nervous about fiddling with that thing for fear I 
will set it off.
