On my 97 1.8t Audi A4 the service intervals that were paid for by Audi
happened every 5K miles.  Back then, I was paying for a service
interval between those visits and was using dino oil.  After I traded
that FWD version in for my existing 2001 w/ quattro I was suprised to
see that they stopped the 5k mile intervals.  The only intervals which
were "required" were the ones they provided (at 5, 10, 20, 30, 40 and
50).

The interval was changed from 5k to the above 10k intervals somewhere
around 2000, but I could be wrong.
