Differential Pressure Regulator - just the facts

Ok - that is a reasonably good analogy.  And I would think similarly.  But
I'm not substituting words and just reporting what I'm finding for others to
sort out.  I try to report good info on this list, but occasionally some
disinformation slips through, and when I find I've oopsed, I let everyone
know.  Anyway, here is some more information(dis-information perhaps based
on events that may have occured that I'm not aware of).

Now imagine - I have all these engines and stuff lying about in my garage,
in boxes, on shelves, some cars, etc.  mostly I5 stuff almost all VAG.
Among this is a CIS-E fuel distributor from a 4000 Quattro with a DPR that
has the same part number as found on the CIS-E3 distributors.  Don't know
how it got there, but that is what I found.
