a "bad cat"(sound like a dirty movie;) won't really cause any trouble unless
those bit start getting caught in the exhaust. they can actually clog things
up and cause all sorts of power issues. best bet is to take it down and
either replace it or clean out the rest of the bits ad weld a straight pipe
in. the pipe will help even out the flow and reduce the "pingy" noise
somewhat. just make sure te upstream side is fully sealed . you only need to
tack the downstrean in 3 or 4 places to keep it from rattling.

Brendan

Puking CGT

My 1987.5 CGT started puking out bits of catalitic converter matrix out the
tail
pipe. Pretty large chunks at that. No clue why, I haven't hit anything. Will
having a "bad" cat cause any real problems? I would think not, and that all
it
could do is give me a pony or two from being freeer flowing, but I've never
had
a cat self destruct before... They don't do smog testing here, so that's not
a
worry, but I don't want it to cause any damage... Thoughts?
