87 5ktq fuel lines

My 87 5ktq did that last winter. Touching the area around the dripping fuel
line in any way made the leak worse. I would have been better off to accept
the dripping leak and flee to a mechanic that would replace the lines
between the fuel tank and the engine compartment. The feed line and the
return line were both held by the same clips, and when I opened a clip,
both lines leaked far worse. The only thing holding off other leaks was the
pressure of the rubber against the rusted crumbly metal. No way to win by
messing about with it.

I cut a 2 inch piece of rubber fuel line hose and sliced it open
lengthwise. I slipped this patch over each fuel line at its spray point.
Then I snugged the rubber patch against the leaking line using a small hose
clamp. Fuel was soaking my shirt and running off my arms. I tightened the
hose clamp with all my strength, and the patch held until I got to the
mechanic.....about 60 miles away.

You have to use metal lines because of the extreme pressure of the fuel
pump. But I was able to temporarily stuff enough rubber into the tiny fuel
line pin hole to stop the spraying stream.
