OMG Ti: 38 PSI in a street tire?
Is that COLD or hot?
FWIW: I run that exact 225 45 17 size (OEM S4/TT I believe: Bridgestone
re040 I think, on A4 knock off rims on a 200 20V. Last week I tracked that at
Watkins Glen with 32PSI on all fours. 70 degrees ambient. Nice crisp turn in vs.
26 PSI (only other pressure I tested.)
6 pounds (from 26 to 32) firmed up the sidewalls against flex, but the fear
I'd have going higher than 32psi (like going to 38 psi COLD) is that the tire
would make only center tread pattern contact, hence becoming tip-toe like in
feel.
A SMART Tire equipped TT w/ 18" tires ran ~32 COLD and the Left front would
spike 7 psi higher during laps. 5 psi if the student was smoother. Ditto at
NHIS months earlier where the ambient was 60 degrees.
Cautious about going over 35 on the street................
Whats the sidewall of that tire (running 38) say?
